American Association of University Professors
There is no doubt that SB 1 has negatively impacted faculty and students in Ohio. On nearly a daily basis we hear that it has created a chilling effect on teaching and classroom discussion, weakened support for students, eroded shared governance and silenced the faculty voice–even in curricular decisions on which they clearly have the knowledge and expertise.
As we move further into this post SB 1 higher ed landscape, it’s critical that we are capturing and tracking the impacts. Information and knowledge is the best way we can continue to fight this battle and ensure that Ohio’s public universities remain places where teaching and scholarship can thrive.
As part of that effort, OCAAUP is working with our higher ed partners to capture information related to the impact of SB 1 on faculty and teaching. All responses will be kept confidential unless you give explicit permission that your individual responses/stories can be shared. Again, this effort is critical to fighting back against the harm we are seeing as SB 1 is now in the full implementation phase. As such, we are imploring OCAAUP members at public institutions to complete this survey and to share it with their colleagues.
Access the survey HERE. Please use a personal, specifically a non .edu, email address when completing the survey.
