Where Does The Money Go?

We recently incurred over $4000 in legal fees to prevent one of our Committee A case files from being successfully subpoenaed and to change our Committee A procedures so that the same situation would not occur again. We were successful in both endeavors.

In several cases we have been asked to attend three day “Termination for Cause” hearings on Ohio campuses. In both instances the professor won and both sides acknowledged that the presence of our AAUP observer changed the entire atmosphere of the hearings.

Last year we responded to 204 Ohio professors in crisis situations such as having their students’ grades changed without their knowledge or consent, being accused of sexual harassment or being sexually discriminated against, being told what textbooks to use, having their department and/or their tenured positions eliminated, needing testimony in an upcoming lawsuit, asking for help in gaining access to their personnel file, etc., etc., etc. About one forth of these cases required our actually going to the campus to negotiate with administrators.

Travel Expenses, Telephone Charges, Postage, Legal Fees and Lodging - THAT’S WHERE THE MONEY GOES!

An enormous strain is being put on our financial resources. We turn to you for help.
