Membership

Becoming a member of the AAUP is easy, and your membership helps support activities that promote and defend academic freedom, shared governance, and tenure.

If you are at a collective bargaining institution, contact your local chapter for a membership form and join your union!

If you are at a non-collective bargaining institution, join through the National AAUP: https://www.aaup.org/membership/join.

“Why do I love my faculty union? An AAUP campus is a campus where tenure requirements are written, and so one need not fear arbitrary decisions. An AAUP campus is a campus where a faculty member is never alone. An AAUP campus is a campus where faculty colleagues throw their lot in with each other, knowing that makes them stronger. An AAUP campus is a campus where the faculty have pledged to protect academic freedom, in an era when we have a President that seeks to silence scientists.”
